Our Mission
Natural Produce For Our Community
We raise exceptional ducks the right way, so families can once again enjoy meat that is clean, flavorful, and truly wholesome.

Every bird spends its life on fresh green pasture, foraging, bathing, and moving as nature intended, finished on non-GMO grain with no antibiotics, hormones, or animal by-products ever. Our husbandry comes first: healthy, stress-free ducks raised in small flocks under open sky are the foundation of everything we do. We are also dedicated to processing our own ducks; each duck is gently handled and processed right here on the farm by our own hands—a calm, low-stress experience that translates directly into more tender, better-tasting meat on your table.

At the same time, we are devoted stewards of this Ozark ground. By rotating pastures, spreading natural nutrients, and fostering biodiversity, we are rebuilding topsoil and ensuring the land stays healthy and productive for generations to come.
Clean food today. Richer earth tomorrow. That’s the Redbud promise.

Our History
Where It All Began
Ryan has always been a little bit ducky. When he married bird-nerd Megan in 2016, they knew that their future contained feathers. Fast-forward to 2021 when they bought 80 acres in Ava, MO, and their dreams unfolded. By combining Ryan's knowledge of ducks and carpentry background and Megan's avian science experience, they built Redbud Duck Co. to realize their goals of creating a healthy, sustainable, and ecological lifestyle for their family.

What Makes Us Different?
1.Our Birds Are Raised Outside. Period.
We grow our birds outside on pasture, not indoors on concrete in barns. They are exposed to sunlight, have access to shade, and are on grass 24-7. Our daily rotation ensures that they are able to forage for fresh plants and insects, which account for a large portion of their diet. More foraging equals more nutrients. Overall, this means:
- Real forage
- Clean environment
- Low Stress
- Better Flavor
- Better fat quality
Pasture-raised birds cost more to raise, and they taste dramatically better We never cut corners on space, clean water, daily pasture moves, or weather protection.
2. We Process Our Own Birds On-Farm.
We built and maintain a brand new, on-farm processing facility. By processing ourselves, we maintain control of this critical aspect of quality meat production. Processing on-farm reduces stress on the birds, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meat.
Small-scale processing costs are higher for small farms and are on average 3-5x more per bird than industrial plants. By processing on farm, we keep our birds fresh and local.
3. We Feed Only High-Quality Ingredients.
We source high quality non-GMO ingredients from a local dedicated non-GMO mill. By focusing on non-GMO ingredients, we ensure that you receive a cleaner meat product. Non-GMO grans cost 30-60% more than conventional feed, but they produce cleaner flavor, healthier fat, and higher nutrient density. We refuse to compromise on feed quality.
4. Zero Waste, Zero Middlemen
Every dollar you spend goes to your farmer, local feed mills, and local suppliers.
5. We Are a Regenerative Farm.
There are lots of confusing claims out there, but one that is of particular importance to us is "regenerative". This means that we are spreading nutrients by moving birds every day, building topsoil, increasing soil fertility, and supporting more biodiversity every year. We are building a pasture system to support life, not one that is dependent on synthetic chemical additives. Our process results in more nutrient density in our meat, and we guarantee you'll taste the difference.

In short, you're not just buying duck. You're buying:
Flavor
Nutrition
Transparency
Humane farming
Missouri agriculture
From a farm you know and trust

And that's worth every penny.
